April is
Child Abuse Awareness Month
Representatives from The
Children's Advocacy Center of Delaware joined together with
colleagues from other nonprofits, our elected officials, and
community leaders on April 1 for the Blue Bow Interfaith Prayer
Breakfast. If you missed the event, WDEL 1150 AM captured some

"Chicks
for Charity" Dinner Benefits CAC of Delaware

Marcie Urgo (left) and Kari
Ainsworth (right) founded the women's group "Chicks for Charity"
as a way to enjoy dining out while supporting Delaware's
nonprofits. The group selects a different charity each month.
The Children's Advocacy Center of Delaware was honored to be
named as February's beneficiary. More than 30 people
joined the "Chicks" for a delicious dinner at Fish On in Lewes,
where Marcie and Kari hosted raffles and 50/50 giveaways, as
well as presented the CAC with a check for $241.

At its annual luncheon,
the Mid-Del

work of the Children's Advocacy Center of Delaware with a gift
of $1,000. The Foundation is the charitable arm of the
Delaware State Fair as well as Harrington Raceway and Casino.

the gift to continue providing forensic interviews, mental
health evaluations, and medical exams for children who are
victims of physical and sexual abuse.
6th Annual
Delaware Family Emergency Preparedness Day

Hundreds of people enjoyed a
beautiful early fall afternoon at Glasgow Park by supporting the
6th Annual Delaware Family Emergency Preparedness Day on
September 11, 2010. This was the first year that the Children's
Advocacy Center participated in this community event, which was
coordinated by the
Delaware Citizen Corps
and which fell on the 9th anniversary of a tragic day
no one expected.
Nearly 500 people visited the
CAC's table and received information about child abuse. Within
the next six months, we'll see nearly 500 children at our three
centers who are victims (or potential victims) of physical or
sexual abuse.

Family Court
of Delaware CASA Volunteers Visit CAC's Dover Office

As part of their ongoing
training, 16 volunteers from
Family Court of Delaware's CASA program (Court Appointed Special
Advocates) visited our Dover office on July 20, 2010. The
group heard a presentation from Diane Klecan, Forensic
Interviewer and Center Coordinator, toured the CAC offices, and
participated in an informative question and answer session.
Thank you, CASA volunteers, for all you do to support the CAC
and your dedication to abused and neglected children in
Delaware.
Children's
Advocacy Center Receives Award for Exceptional Service

On May 26, 2010, representatives of the Division of Child Mental
Health Services recognized the Children's Advocacy Center of
Delaware (along with several other organizations and
individuals) for exceptional service to citizens of Lewes,
Sussex County, and the State of Delaware. Accepting the award
were Buster Richardson, Forensic
Interviewer/Center Coordinator for our Sussex County office (in
Georgetown) and Randall Williams, Executive Director of the
Children's Advocacy Center of Delaware.
Thank You,
Wilmington Flower Market Volunteers and Supporters!

It's an annual Delaware tradition and one
that the Children's Advocacy Center of Delaware is proud to
continue with as a partner. For the third consecutive
year, CAC Board and Staff members volunteered at the
Wilmington
Flower Market. As one of the children's charities benefiting
from a portion of the proceeds, we're grateful to everyone for
supporting this fun community event. This past year, the CAC was
awarded a $3,200 grant, which we used to upgrade our
audio/visual equipment in our New Castle County office,
enhancing our interview processes for potential victims of child
abuse.
